This week was all about world mentoring day and here at Rosebirch we are big on investment and the power of mentoring. A number of our management team are in continuous development programs with Vistage and via Alternative Board including our very own M.D. Stephen Flynn.
Two great examples of some of our managers being invested in are Lewis Hardy and Keith McClarence.
Lewis is our joinery supervisor and production manager. Aged 39, Lewis is an inhouse success story starting with Rosebirch back in 2004 as an apprentice. Having worked his way through the business by shadowing and studying achieving machinery and health & safety certificates, the company is now proud to be investing in him in an 18-month leadership skills journey. Coached by Liam Kane, Lewis is learning to motivate and have positive relationships with his team; people profiling and leadership skills in planning, execution and strategy. Lewis says he can see benefits already and that he wants to be the best he can at what he does, to support Rosebirch in continuing being a great place to work!
Alongside Lewis, Keith is also undertaking a commitment to his leadership skills on the same program. Keith, who is from Wallsend and has been with Rosebirch for 21 months is a senior project manager. Once our jobs are up and running on site, Keith looks after the logistics, programming and team. One of his main KPI’s is making sure that the team is coordinated to ensure jobs finish on time, so the leadership course is already proving invaluable on how to deal with the team better in his ever changing and shifting role. Keith says he is enjoying the new level of learning.
Harry and Ben from the team are also following the same leadership program and Brian is on an Inspiring Leaders two-year program. If anyone else in the team is keen to start continuous professional development, then please get in touch with Kim in HR.
