Rosebirch Pick and Pack for Local Charity

As one of the region’s leading shopfitting solution companies, we have been getting their hands into picking and packing for a surplus food charity dedicated to eradicating food waste and alleviating food poverty in the North East region.

Members of Rosebirch’s team dedicated a morning to assist at Fareshare NE warehouse in Westerhope, helping pick and pack food to be sent out to reach those in need through its’ network of charities and community groups.

Led by Kimberley Flynn, HR and People Lead at Rosebirch, the six Rosebirch staff joined FareShare North East’s committed volunteers and staff members on the freezing shop floor all who come together with the common purpose to provide nutritious food across Newcastle, Sunderland, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Gateshead, Northumberland, Durham and Teesside. Kimberley said:

“As a business we value the importance of supporting charities in our region who help our communities. Fareshare NE stood out to us as not only are they trying to reduce food wastage, they are also ensuring that those who need it the most receive the right consumables to minimise food poverty. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the shop floor and came away with a great understanding of the cause!”

The Rosebirch team (Mark Robinson, Mel King, Matty Elvin, Scott Murphy & Tom Wright) were greeted by Director of Development Ruth Jackson. She said:

“Thank you to the Rosebirch team for volunteering with us and I hope they all had fun. I heard you were of huge help with our heaviest day of picking and packing. Thanks also to them for traying up all the parsnips and carrots – it’s a time-consuming job that makes sure everyone gets their fair share! I would also like to thank the company for its kind and generous donation – we can’t express how much we appreciate this kind of support from local businesses, it really does make all the difference!”
